> DESCRIPTION

Join Displacements artist Samira Yamin for a short exhibition tour to learn about her fascination with optical toys and anomalies and then construct various 19th century animation devices. Originally designed as experiments investigating the mechanics of vision, these devices quickly became wondrous objects that dazzle adults and children alike. Participants will create a large, collaborative zoetrope, which will stay on display in the museum, and then create smaller devices to take home.
