Alchemy 2 x 5

Five artists explore the alluring and complex transformation of raw materials into art

MorYork Gallery

4959 York Blvd

Highland Park

Los Angeles, CA 90042

Saturday December 14,  8 am–1 pm & 6 pm–10 pm

Sunday December 15, noon–4 pm

Ruth De Nicola, Cidne Hart and Mavis Leahy collaborated in Alchemic Explorations earlier this year.  Alchemy 2 x 5 presents new works by these three artists, and they will be joined by fellow Arroyo Arts Collective members Heather Hoggan and Patricia Lee. Clare Graham graciously hosts the show inside his magical and ever-evolving gallery, MorYork.

About the Artists:

Ruth De Nicola creates assemblage, collage and jewelry. Believing “Once curious, a path opens,” she records her journey of transformation.

Cidne Hart will exhibit etchings, books and photography. She loves incorporating  antique, other-worldly alchemical drawings into her art and draws on the natural world for inspiration.

A mixed-media artist, Heather Hoggan quips “I create things from other things, spinning gold from straw if I could, but more likely butterflies from yarn.”

Mavis Leahy works in mixed media. Leahy states “My art motivates me to delve into the unknown — to re-examine what we initially recognize as familiar.”

Patricia Lee will show her hand-crafted puppets that fit right into the menagerie at MorYork. She will also show some of her mysterious figurative ceramics.
