ACME. is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new paintings by Los Angeles based artist Tomory Dodge. This will be the artist's sixth solo exhibition at the gallery. The show will feature a single large-scale painting and six smaller scale paintings. In this body of work, Dodge's paintings seem to have a veil of black or white paint masking the surface of the canvas then deliberate scrapes reveal vibrant strips of color beneath. The paintings possess a forceful physicality, by revealing the strategic actions of the artist – every pull and scrape adds another layer to the finished painting.
