> DESCRIPTION

Los Angeles-based artist Yu Cotton-well uses fiber as her primary medium and often blends it with ordinary objects to demonstrate the relationship between her personal life and her artwork; but also to connect audiences with subtle social messages. The installation From Scratch is dedicated to the LGBTQ community, in appreciation. Instead of making a declaration about what is right or wrong, this work has been created to remind viewers of their home and family origins. Regardless of individual standpoints, the installation is meant to invoke everyone's common wish to be accepted as we are.
