> DESCRIPTION

Groundspace Project is pleased to present, Including You, performance work by Takeshi Kanemura, lead performer, with Yoony Takeuchi, Cris Law, Johnny Gurrero and Mei Hotta.  Please join us Sunday, August 4, 1:00 to 4:00 pm for Including You.   On view as well is Groundspace Project’s current exhibition Plastic Sunshine, organized by guest curator, Jacqueline Bell Johnson.

Through Takeshi’s art, he offers viewers environments that function in a manner similar to public parks. People visit parks not to talk about the park and its elements, but to have their own time and space to interact with themselves and/or others. Although each of his offerings is distinct, all are united by the way they function: to create the possibility of human interaction. Even when Takeshi is not present, the spaces he has created are interactive performances. After visitors leave, his art again becomes incomplete and an invitation for other viewers. The whole process encompasses the production of the environment (which is open for viewers to see as a performance) and the installation of the environment. Takeshi considers their experience and process as the embodiment of his work.

In this event Including You Takeshi produces an environment based-on experimental performances. These are self-reflecting human movements and/or offerings for the viewers own imaginations. Inviting various artists in different genres (painter, singer, cello player, saxophone player, and more) create an interactive space and a sharing of time. Viewers can interact with artists, and then create performances as well.

Takeshi’s purpose as an artist is to be the catalyst for drawing out organic reactions of our human condition.

Groundspace Project is an alternative exhibition space located in downtown Los Angeles.
Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday, 1 to 6 pm or for an appointment call 310 614-3351.
