Angels Gate Cultural CenterEVENT
> QUICK FACTS
> DESCRIPTION
Each year the Center opens all of it doors for a single day so that the public can meet the 40+ artists who work at Angels Gate. The Studio Artist Program at Angels Gate Cultural Center hosts artists working in all mediums – ceramics, painting, photography, sculpture, you name it, Angels Gate artists are doing it.
There will be free demonstrations in all of our classrooms, featuring activities as varied as printmaking and Japanese archery. Both the Center’s printmaking and visual arts classrooms will be hosting hands on demo workshops all day long, for adults and children. From 11 AM – 2 PM, the Center’s performing arts space, Building H, will be hosting a series of demos by our Irish Dance, Karate and Japanese Archery programs. At 2, 3 and 4 PM, in the Center’s kiln yard, artist Perry Okimoto will be demonstrating the art of Raku ceramics. In the Center’s galleries, April 29th will also mark the opening of two new exhibitions, On Site at the Gate 2007 and Jerrin Wagstaff and Carleton Christy: New Works. On Site at the Gate 2007 is the Center’s annual all-media, juried exhibition, and will feature seventeen artists hand picked from a field of applicants by juror Aimee Chang, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Orange County Museum of Art. On Site will be on view in the Center’s main gallery, Gallery A. Jerrin Wagstaff and Carleton Christy: New works is a two person show by Jerrin Wagstaff and Carleton Christy, and will be featured in our Downstairs Gallery. Both exhibitions will have a reception for the artists from 2- 4 PM, refreshments will be served. |
