Inspired by the work of Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke, the "Art of an Advanced Civilization" series is a contemporary reinvention of the sentinel monolith. When scientific advances occur, the creations of humans are represented by complex spheres, the helix, and other geometric forms. These shapes symbolize ideas of discovery; they are both profoundly positive, but can be subverted into bad intentions.
The use of pop art colors allows the work to be playful, while the respectful appropriation of historic NASA and JPL images maintain the esteem the artist has for discovery and the people who make science tangible. Reimagining these images is a homage to the greatness that humans aspire to and the efforts of men and woman who make the dreams of science come true.
