The Art Gallery at West LA College presents Consistent Trajectory, Paintings from 1993-2013 by Los Angeles artist Kenneth Ober. The paintings in the exhibition depict various techniques describing a consistent visual experience. Surface manipulations vary from rag buffed, ”Q-‐Tip” applied dots, layered script suggesting calligraphy and text; all of which culminate in the creation of pulsating sumptuous surfaces. Ober’s current works are made using an automobile pin-‐striping tool, producing layers of vibrant textured line and color. The body of work marries intoxicating bright color worked to produce complex equalized surfaces. Repetitive mark making combined with seductive color passages conjures a meditative experience. The pieces chosen for this exhibition describe a linear pictorial progression of twenty years work.
Consistent Trajectory runs from Monday, February 4 through Thursday, March 7, 2013 with an opening reception on Thursday February 7, 6:00 – 9:00pm.
