This exhibition will feature never-before-displayed photographic studies of some of Bas Jan Ader's most influential works.
Dutch born California-based artist Bas Jan Ader (1942-1975) mysteriously vanished in 1975 when he set sail on what was to be the smallest sailboat ever to journey across the Atlantic. Ader was carrying out the third part of his project, In Search of the Miraculous. In 2013, more than 30 years after his disappearance at sea, he is more influential than ever before.
In this exhibition, we revisit the initial work of that project by displaying the unseen photographic studies for In Search of the Miraculous (One Night in Los Angeles). These photographs amongst others in the exhibition will finally be visible to the public for the first time.
