Douglas Simms Stenhouse is a plein air, transparent watercolor artist who lives in Southern California and paints throughout the US.Over the past 9 years Doug has received over 68 awards and appeared in over 326 exhibits, 63 of them solo events. He is a signature member of the Montana, New Mexico, Kentucky and Philadelphia Water Color Societies. But he also belongs to a number of other local, regional and national art associations. And he serves on the Board of Directors for the National Watercolor Society.
Douglas is frequently commissioned to execute paintings of buildings and sailboats.
His reputation has been built largely on his ability to capture the essence of buildings in their settings, in part because he spent many years practicing architecture and presenting renderings of buildings.
