LOS ANGELES, CA (November 29th, 2012) - LA Artcore is pleased to present a tandem-solo painting show with Southern California artists, Susan Sironi and Halverson Frazier from December 2nd – 30th, 2012. The artist reception will take place on Sunday, December 2th from 3pm – 5pm. Conversation with the artist will begin at 4pm.
Susan Sironi's body of book-collages combine approach, visualization and technique to form visual tableaux that draw out of a book, a parallel, physical world. Sironi's recent projects have included Alice in Wonderland, war photography and floral arrangements. Each are developed within an overall visual scheme before their images are spliced together with the removal of their negative space and are re-formed, sculptural relief-like whose images or text are flattened within an emptied container. The extremely varied results produce explosions of imagery literally layering meaning upon meaning, complicating the linearity of a book and its straightforward function while presenting an alternative critique of its subjects.

LA Artcore will present Frazier's abstract paintings entitled The Transposition Series. They continue to investigate mineral and organic-based elements as redefined in a geological metaphor of abstract landscape. The tonalities shift within layers, interpreting a mystery of impressionistic forms as a pentimento discovery. Undefined imagery surfaces from beneath, informing the viewer as interpreter to complete the contextual narrative of the painting. Frazier has long been involved in his and other's art, first getting his start creating sets for productions. He later founded his own design business alongside teaching at Art Center College of Design.
"I have long been interested in the schism between modes of expression, experience, and memory. The act of painting has been a constant involvement of mine. The work continuesto evolve, exploring various degrees of representation and abstraction with the tensionsand the discord these conditions provoke. Within these paintings, my relationship to placeis superseded by my regard for metaphor and memory. The work becomes cyclical, constantly shifting and mutating, exploring the stable conditions of time and memory. When I paint, all the pictures remain the same to me." -Statement excerpt by Halverson Frazier
