On December 6, Wallspace will host an opening reception for “Compare and Contrast,” featuring the work of photographer Meg Madison and painter Ivan Lofstom.
Meg Madison’s “The Stream of Life” presents black and white photographs hand sewn onto book pages, lines of thread converting the past into the present upon viewing. Available as a limited edition book.
In contrast, Lofstrom’s work, 6’x6’ painted canvases are minimal in nature and maximal in presentation. Lofstom’s series encompasses 44 pieces, with a selection of 14 on show at Wallspace. This is his first showing.
”When I walked into his studio and met Ivan and saw his work for the first time, I could not believe the sheer volume. I could not wait to share his work with the Los Angeles community, it is such a force,” said Valda Lake, owner of Wallspace.
Wallspace represents over 55 Los Angeles-based artists, and the work is hung salon style on 14’ high walls, so that over 300 pieces are on view. Among the artists are Rose Masterpol, Dan Monteavaro and MB Boissonnault. The work is also available and viewable online through wallspacela.com.
