Pepin Moore

Pepin Moore is proud to present a group exhibition of works by Brian Bress, Brendan Fowler, Brian Kennon, Miljohn Ruperto, John Stezaker, and Bobbi Woods, on view from November 2nd through December 8th 2012. A reception for the artists will be held Friday, November 2nd from seven to nine in the evening.

Raze; Revert; Repeat examines the use of subtractive processes as applied to the reproduced image. The works presented concentrate on renegotiating the image’s context through reduction or negation by diverse methods and in a range of media. Brendan Fowler and Bobbi Woods nearly erase away the image to emphasize its material presence. Brian Bress and John Stezaker edit out genre-specific subjects in order to introduce new content and resolutions. Brian Kennon and Miljohn Ruperto reorganize their source imagery to reconstitute composition and context. Each of the works included bring into focus what is left aside, cut away, or forced out, and what new perspectives are built from the remains.
