Coinciding with a variety of celebratory events and exhibitions that commemorate Otis’ 90th anniversary, Omage ‘08: The Artists, Designers, and Writers of Otis College of Art, an exhibition of work by Otis’ distinguished faculty, opens Saturday, August 2, 6-9 pm at Track 16 Gallery, Bergamot Station Arts Complex, 2525 Michigan Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90404. Featuring work by more than 60 artists, designers, and writers, the exhibition is guest-curated by Lisa Melandri, Deputy Director for Exhibitions and Programs at the Santa Monica Museum of Art.

Since 1918, Otis College of Art and Design has maintained a position of excellence and a high profile regionally and internationally as an institution that educates creators and thinkers. At the core is its exceptional faculty. In addition to their proven dedication as educators, Otis faculty members are exhibited globally and are recognized fine artists, architects and designers, as well as widely published authors, poets and critics.

According to Otis President Samuel Hoi, “Otis faculty members help students take their places in the world as successful creative professionals. Guided and nurtured by teachers who have traveled that same road, students define their own vision and chart a path to achieve their goals. Through inspired teaching, these future artists and designers catch hold of their dreams.”
