Dates: July 19 - August 10
This
Summer, several of our favorite artists will be spending an intense
week in our gallery space. During this time, each artist will transform
our interiors into spaces that will pique your senses and alter the
gallery until it is almost unrecognizable.
The
process of reconstruction will involve a five day installation, when
the artist will essentially inhabit the space. Following completion of
the installation, a 36 hour ‘reception’ [or Open House] will take
place, whereby the viewer is encouraged to visit the space at atypical
times for gallery-hopping. Upon completion of the open house [Monday,
12am], the next artist enters the space and reclaims and interpolates
materials left over from the previous artists’ work.
In
this sense, then, the process becomes autologous – a blood transfusion
whereby the donor and recipient are the same person – suggesting new
life being continually re-inserted into the room.
