Beacon Arts Building presents Constructing Fantasy: Sculpture from Los Angeles, curated by Beacon Arts Building director, Renée Fox. Constructing Fantasy is an exhibition of small to large-scale sculpture by Los Angeles artists. This show invites visitors to explore the semblance of a fairytale as they meander through the spaces created by sculpture placement throughout the exhibition. Just as the identity of Los Angeles is constructed by the dreams of its residents, artwork in this show stands in as images from childhood fairy tales, creating a new narrative in the imagination of each viewer.

Constructing Fantasy opens Saturday, June 30 and runs through August 5, 2012. Exhibition special events include an opening reception on Saturday, June 30, 6:00 – 9:00pm and a closing reception on Sunday, August 5, 1:00 – 4:00pm, which will include a conversation with some of the participating artists. Beacon Arts is located at 808 N. La Brea Ave., Inglewood, CA 90302. Regular gallery hours are from 1:00pm to 6:00pm Thursday through Saturday, Sundays 1:00pm – 4:00pm. All Constructing Fantasy events are free. For additional information please call 310-419-4077 or visit http:// www.beaconartsbuilding.com
