Passerby is pleased to present its inaugural exhibition with works by LA artists Dana Maiden and Bari Ziperstein. Through photographic and collage aesthetics, the reorganization of three-dimensional space is an essential component in the creative processes of both artists. Their works blur the line between the altered object and the space of display, encouraging viewers to look at something strangely familiar from an uncanny perspective.
Passerby invites pairs of artists to create and exhibit collaborative work in two storefront windows on York Boulevard in Los Angeles. Hearkening back to early twentieth century show windows, Passerby seeks site-specific projects that engage the connections between display, consumption, politics and art.
