"Maudit," an original puppetry performance piece about Modigliani's gifted yet overshadowed wife, Jeanne Hébuterne, explores the myth of the cursed artist and how simply being female may be an insurmountable fate.
A promising young artist, nine months pregnant with her second child, flings herself from a fifth floor window at the death of her lover, the Bohemian portrait painter, Amadeo Modigliani. This final act is all that most art historians mention of her, but Jeanne Hébuterne was a woman with dreams, as is brought to life in Triumvirate Pi Theatre's new puppetry performance piece, "Maudit." Written and directed by Tri-Pi Theatre's Artistic Director, Leslie K. Gray, this lyrical yet disturbing depiction, told through the disjointed intersections of memory and historical misinterpretations, features a wide variety of puppet forms to thrill puppet aficionados and performance theater lovers alike.
Tri-Pi Theatre presents all of its shows in wheelchair accessible facilities and provides captioning for the hearing impaired at every performance.
