KATHERINE CONE GALLERY Proudly Presents
Jack Brogan: Part 2
“Summer of Jack”
June 16 – July 14, 2012
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 16, 2012 /5-8 pm
Jack Brogan: Part 2, "Summer of Jack", will open June 16th, 2012, at Katherine Cone Gallery in Los Angeles. This exhibition is part two of a three part series in a continual celebration of Jack Brogan's
contribution to the contemporary art world for the past 50 years. Participating artists include DeWain Valentine, Craig Kauffman, Guy Dill, Laddie John Dill, David Bungay, Andy Moses, Bertil Petersson, Jow, Brian Wills, and Suzan Woodruff.
Jack has worked with many artists, too many for just one exhibition. As the art fabricator that artists deem a national treasure, he deserves an entire summer of tribute. These artists, that art critic Peter Frank states “know him like a brother,” call on him to complete their vision, often times becoming life-long friends in the process. Part two and three of the ‘Jack series’ no longer focuses on his personal art collection, as the exhibition “You Don’t Know Jack” did, but focuses on the relationships he has formed with these artists and the artwork that is created as a result of that relationship. Artist DeWain Valentine expressed how Jack is the “magician of the art world, the artist’s genie in a bottle.” Whether a national treasure or a magician, one thing that is clear is the admiration and respect the art community holds for Jack Brogan as a collaborator, fabricator, and friend.
Please join us for an opening reception, Saturday, June 16th, from 5pm-8pm.
