Community art space First Street Studios,
opening
reception for
“Nostalgia”,
takes place on
Saturday, July 5, 2008 from 5pm-9 pm.
This group exhibit features the mixed media
works of 14 local Angelino artists, painters, photographers and print artists.
The exhibit planned for Saturday, July 5th will commemorate Los Angeles’s diverse communities. Nostalgia the underlying theme of the show will highlight the
feelings, emotions, connections, and memory of our past, present and future
here in Los Angeles. “The art reflects the personal process of nostalgia and
memory…” said curator Maria Elena Hernandez. The art exhibition attempts to see
commonalities in the context of the human conditioning in urban life. The
exhibit captures contemporary adaptations of Nostalgia.
Exhibiting new works by: Javier Barboza, Cesar
Gonzalez, Rogelio Gutierrez, Jennifer Gutierrez Morgan, Andrea LaHue, Rosalie
Lopez, Manuel Lopez, Rick Mendoza, Esmeralda Montes, Stephen Romio, Victor
Rosas, Alexander Schaefer, Mariacruz Velasco and Rosalie Villegas.
The artist reception will open from 5-9pm, featuring live performances by East Los Angeles
very own EL-Haru Kuroi and Das
Radio. Also local Artisans will be
vending handcrafted items. It is a free event, however donations are
welcomed. This is a local grass
roots gem you wouldn’t want to miss!
First Street Studios hopes to
engage the Angelino community in celebrating art and culture, F.S.S educating
and mentoring youth thru arts education.
