Another Year in LA presents the third in a series of three exhibitions focusing on a specific art activity - Painting (Los Angeles), Sculpture (California) and now, Drawing (Los Angeles). This exhibition consists of work by five artists that address the act and nature of drawing in very different ways. The participating artists are: Jackie Freedman, John Knuth, Stas Orlovski, Christopher Russell and Alisa Yang
Mark-making has been a part of the human DNA since the beginning of time and the range of work in this exhibition celebrates that act. Most of what could be considered drawing is explored in this exhibition from traditional graphite on paper (Jackie Freedman and Stas Orlovski) to the marring of the image with a knife scratching the surface (Christopher Russell) to collage with pen & ink (Alisa Yang) to drawing on canvas with an ignited automobile flare (John Knuth) – this exhibition explores the action of mark-making with exuberance.
