> DESCRIPTION
Primates and their on-screen dramas are the subject of an exhibition presented at TELIC Arts Exchange by Los Angeles artist Rachel Mayeri.
During the month of May, she will use the space at TELIC as a primate research and video production laboratory called “Field Station Hollywood,” which will be open to the public. Two weeks after Field Station Hollywood disappears, TELIC becomes an exhibition space for Mayeri’s video series “Primate Cinema,” an observation platform for viewing the social, sexual and political behavior of human and nonhuman primates. A new video, produced from the activity of Field Station Hollywood will be premiered in this exhibition, which runs from June 11 to June 22.
Mayeri’s work enables viewers to observe human nature at a safe distance through the lenses of primatology and media studies.
