In conjunction with the Getty Foundation’s Pacific Standard Time: Art in LA 1945-1980, LA><ART will present an exhibition of photographs by Los Angeles-based artist Daniel Joseph Martinez. This exhibition will encompass the debut of two bodies of work that Martinez produced in the late 1970s. These two series document Martinez’s investigations of bodybuilding and beauty pageant culture in Southern California during this critical period of Southern California history. The exhibition will be accompanied by a public billboard project on La Cienega Blvd. between Washington Blvd. and Venice.
