Freeing the mind, letting imagery develop freely without expectations, staying open to new juxtapositions or metamorphoses; the study of form, drawing quickly from observation, or developing design concepts in thumbnail format: the product of these creative processes will be showcased in this exhibition. The rarely seen images from the artists’ sketchbook are personal and inventive, inspiring more formal works. Although they may appear unrefined, the sketches chosen for this exhibit capture the raw essence of the artists' creative mind.
In this exhibition we will display complete sketchbooks, selected pages from sketchbooks, large-scale drawings/paintings, sculptural maquettes/roughs, and impromptu sketches on unexpected surfaces.
Zask Gallery would like to emphasize the value, importance, and spark of the uninhibited works created in the artistic process, and share with the public the artists’ otherwise private methodology.
