Steve Turner Contemporary is pleased to present Molting Exercises, a sculptural installation by Michael Henry Hayden comprised of three school desks which are growing out from their original industrial design. In displaying them against the painted backdrop of an empty classroom, Hayden explores ideas of metamorphosis and transformation in an inorganic environment.
Born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1981, Hayden received an MFA from USC (2009) and a BFA from Cooper Union (2004). He has been included in group exhibitions at LAXART, Los Angeles (2011); Roberts and Tilton, Los Angeles, (2010); Carl Berg Projects, Los Angeles (2010); Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase, New York (2008); Frederieke Taylor Gallery, New York (2006) and Guild and Greyshkul, New York (2005).
