art practice 1965-1980 at MOCA. Dorit Cypis’ work Sightlines, was most

This...exhibition. Cypis will be showing her new series Stranded
Subjects (weekends),this May at the COLA Artist Fellowship exhibit at
Barnsdall Park, and at the symposium Political Theology, University of
California, Irvine, during summer 2007.
The
formative years of Dorit Cypis’ education as an artist were at the Nova
Scotia College of Art and Design 1972-75, and at the California
Institute of the Arts 1975-77, informed equally by feminism and
conceptual art. Her early work mined identity as relational and
inter-subjective and in relation to questions of representation. In this
exhibition, we have chosen a selection of her photographs created during that time.
