Nineteen Ceramic Artists transform the gallery with bold and dynamic Installations of Sculptural and Functional Ceramic Art. We invite you to join us on opening night for a gathering of some of the best Ceramic artists in Southern California. Enjoy holiday cheer and great food to celebrate the season. The artists have worked hard to create expressive imagery to capture the senses in a long established American tradition of ceramics - hand made one of a kind table ware for the holidays tables, distinguished sculpture, beautiful wall hangings and small collectibles for gift giving. Join us at the gallery throughout the month of December. Give the gift of art from the eARTh.
Peggy Zask Gallery is happy to bring these artists to the community and we hope you can join us to celebrate the generosity ceramic art brings to us all.
A great aspect of American Art is rooted in folk and functional art, which has a rich history as an art form that promotes self expression and generosity, and often competes with "Fine Art," which can be inclusive, elitist, and generally, hard to own.
Ceramic Artists understand the rich connection they share with folk art, so it is normal for ceramicists to approach their process with freedom and self-expression, to share their work in a holistic spirit. In this sense, it is an art form that is made for the community, and owning ceramics, naturally, is meant to be easy.
As consumers, it makes sense to support American made products, and American Artists. As the holidays approach, the overseas factories are kicking into high gear to provide piles of cheaply produced goods. Now is the time to consider another option; This year we can give the gift of genuine concern for each other as Americans. It's time to think outside the box.
This season think hard about supporting your hometown Americans. Consider giving an oil change or calling a house-cleaner for mom. Or consider a gift certificate to a local restaurant or gym. Support the local artists who make arts and crafts including jewelry, pottery and beautiful wooden boxes and vessels.
Think about buying, for this Christmas, without draining American pockets so that overseas countries gain the profit of our business. Christmas can include caring/encouraging American small businesses to keep working away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about other Americans, we care about our communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn't imagine.
This can be the new American Christmas tradition.
