> DESCRIPTION

UCLA associate professor of history Lauren (Robin) Derby visits Transcultural Pilgrim to discuss the slain Dominican leader Olivorio Mateo Ledesma, depicted in one of José Bedia’s monumental paintings. Ledesma, also known as Papá Liborio or Dios Olivorio, is regarded as a revolutionary hero and is among the historical figures from the Caribbean Bedia pays homage to in his work.
