DUPE PREMIERES Alex Austin's full-length dramatic comedy DUPE premieres at the Two Roads Theatre, 4348 Tujunga Ave., Studio City, on June 27, 2008. Dupe was inspired by the story of Georgia Graves, a Southern Californian who danced in the Folies Bergere in the 1920s and became the model for the world's most famous fashion photograph, The Bathers by George Hoyningen-Huene, originally published in Paris Vogue. In DUPE, set in modern Los Angeles, collector Leonard Mist uses that priceless photograph in his romantic pursuit of Carol Fitch, a fabled rock star, who may be an imposter pursuing him in order to obtain the image. Art and artifice collide in this mesmerizing production. Directed by Bill Garrett, DUPE features Tracy Coogan, Steve Frech, Karen James and Diane Gitelman. Dupe runs June 27, 28; July 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19. Fri. & Sat 8 p.m.; Sun. 2:30 p.m. (shows may be added). Tickets $15 at door, $13.50 in advance, students with ID $10. For information and reservations call (818) 632-7223. |
