Klopfer situates his practice in a similar place as both Allman and Manley but with directed attention towards the possibilities of the Romantic lurking or full blown in sites where nature and human construction vie for respect or at least acceptance. The vast history of the Sublime and Nature in landscape, with both painting and photography, has fed Klopfer’s project. He is looking for archetypes, for icons, for landscapes as idea rather than place.
