Also known as polyester plate lithography, pronto plate printing is quick easy, and inexpensive. Dig out your drawings or photos to photocopy or create new ones right on the plate! This class is great for all levels.
Pronto plates are a thin polyester material, simliar to mylar, that can be used in printmaking. They come in various izesand are a non-toxic, inexpensive way to print in or out of the studio. Great freedom of imagery is permitted since images can be directly drawn onto the plates with a sharpie or waterproof ballpoint pen, and can be photocopied by laser photocopy onto the plate.
These plates are great for use in combination with other printmaking forms or alone in limited edition. The plates are printed with an etching press using oil-based inks as in traditional lithography.
Inks, two pronto plates, palettes, one sheet of printing paper (4 quarter sheets at 11"x15"; additional sheets are $4.50 each) and work areas will be provided by the Printmakers Network (PNET). A supply list will be sent out to the participants with the required and recommended items to bring to the workshop.
