George Billis Gallery is pleased to present The Cityscape Show, a group show of work by gallery artists and selected guest artists. The exhibition runs from July 9 to August 27th with a reception on July 9th from 5-8pm.
The Cityscape Show is a visual exploration of the environs we inhabit. Los Angeles is a unique city in many regards - in its architecture, geography, and natural environment. Spanning a space that includes mountains, ocean, and desert, Los Angeles and Southern California are a source of immense inspiration to many artists. This exhibition brings together a group of artists whose individual works come together to show a multifaceted and fascinating city. In addition, the exhibition reaches beyond Southern California to include depictions of New York, Tokyo and Seattle among others. These pieces illustrate the ever-changing urban landscape from downtown skyscrapers, iconic landmarks, graffiti-ed back alleys, and vast freeway networks to the pastoral hills of Topanga Canyon and the bright lights of the Hollywood Hills.
The exhibition includes works by Todd Brainard, Patricia Chidlaw, Jim Denney, Ann Duffy, David Eddington, Nicholas Evans-Cato, Phillip Griswold, Hans Haberger, Russ Havard, Danny Heller, Eric Hesse, Christopher Martin Hoff, Rachel Holloway, Steven Katz, Robert Laduke, Michelle Matthews, Steven Magsig, James Oliver, Enrique Romero Santana, Ben Schwab, David Thompson, and Karen Woods.
