FEMINIST TOUR OF THE NORTON SIMON MUSEUM WITH MARGARET DANIELAK
The tour will highlight the work of the women artists in the permanent collection including Barbara Hepworth, Elisabeth-Louise Vigee-Le Brun, Berthe Morisot and others. Danielak, who is the daughter of artists, will draw upon her experience as an artist representative and curator to introduce these important works of art to tour participants and discuss their relevance in today's art world.
Danielak conducted a highly regarded Feminist Tour of the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena for the Southern California Women's Caucus for Art (SCWCA) during their 2009 CONFAB. She was inspired to conduct the tour after researching Georgia O'Keeffe - leading her to consult her art history textbook from college (U.C. Berkeley) entitled THE HISTORY OF ART by H.W. Janson. Not only was O'Keeffe not mentioned, no women artists were included in the course materials used for the class.
