Artists
Kerstin Von Gabain is a Californian born and Vienna based artist working with a range of
media such as slideshows, drawings, banners and sculptural elements. In
her artistic practice she is concerned with public and urban space, in
particular how it is used and defined by subcultures. Her most recent
works deal with processes initiated by the early rave, techno and
electronic music culture. She had her first solo exhibition at Gabriele
Senn Gallery (Vienna) in 2007 and participated in several group shows.
She is co-founder and president of Sezession Wichtelgasse (Vienna).
Skylar Haskard is a Los Angeles born and based artist working in a variety of media
including video, installation, sculpture, and photography. His work has
been involved with the identification of the contradictory conditions
that exist in certain social spaces and how these contradictions can
lead to their eventual deterioration. His work has been the subject of
recent solo exhibitions at Anna Helwing Gallery, Los Angeles (2007),
Transmission Gallery, Glasgow and has also been included in numerous
group exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
Erlea Maneros is a painter who addresses the abstractions and absurd architectures of
power. Her work involves collecting images and re-articulating them by
transforming, in subtle or aggressive ways, how the picture
communicates its information. Born in Basque Country she lives and
works in Los Angeles. She has exhibited with Garash Galeria (Mexico),
China Arts Objects Galeries (Los Angeles), Pelham Arts Center (New
York), Blum & Poe (Los Angeles) and Sala Rekalde (Bilbao), among
others. She is founder and co-director of ART2102 of Los Angeles.
Michael Rashkow,
born and based in Los Angeles, uses different media and materials as a
means of expressing spatial considerations partial to sculpture. Mainly
interested in transforming the human body into a visual object, his
work seeks to conflate the experience of physical phenomenon and
objects within a two dimensional field that is at once both cognitive
and perceptual. He has exhibited with Wallspace (New York),
Ritter/Zamet (London), Annual Songzhuang Art Festival (Beijing), and
had his first solo show at Laxart (Los Angeles) in 2007.
