W. M. Keck Lecture Hall
Working with contemporary media technologies to produce innovative and intense physical events, Christian Moeller realizes the handheld object to architectural scale installations. In 1990, Moeller founded his first studio and media laboratory in Germany; in 2001, he moved to the US, opening a studio in Hollywood. His work centers on complex investigations of what is revealed by the intersections of cinema, computation, music and physical space. In times characterized by increased drift towards sterile robotic behavior, Moeller is growing a series of large robotic sculptures for public spaces, which are well-mannered and (mostly) friendly.
Moeller is an artist and currently teaches in the Department of Design and Media Arts at UCLA.
