A rich resource for the artist, the collector, the curator and the art lover.
Footsteps, a creaking door, a few whispers — that's all we hear, but it can't be all that's going on. In Behind Bedroom Doors, Sylvia Ji and Joshua Petker examine sacred moments, both mythologized and mundane, that unfold in the rooms where women go to sleep. Based on models from godsgirls.com (not safe for work!), Ji and Petker's paintings do more than glance through the crack in the keyhole: they throw the door wide open, capturing fleeting romanticism of women in their most intimate moments. Both artists are unique in style but similar in their notion of the imperfect, a shared sense which creates sensual works of fleeting beauty that deconstruct the decayed ideals of love. (MSS)
