> DESCRIPTION

LAUNCH, a newly formed non-profit organization, is pleased to present Accumulations, a solo exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Meeson Pae Yang. The show opens Saturday, June 12 and will run through July 31, 2010.  LAUNCH_space, located at 5900 Wilshire Blvd., will host an opening reception for the artist on Saturday, June 12, from 5 to 9 p.m.

Comprised of mixed media sculptures and installations, Accumulations offers a view of Meeson Pae Yang’s intriguing interpretation of our environment.  Through the pairing and amassing of materials organic and synthetic, Yang creates intricate sculptures and installations. These pieces explore technology as it relates to the body and the natural world. Developing systems that mimic micro and macro environments, the artist often builds an entire ecosystem within a single installation. Her work weaves the organic into the architecture of spaces producing otherworldly systems of growth that seem to have the potential for proliferation, expansion, and regeneration.

Meeson Pae Yang was born 1979 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and currently lives and works in Los Angeles. She earned a BFA from UCLA (2002). Her works have been in solo exhibitions, National and International, at Kashya Hildebrand (Zurich, Switzerland), Art HK (Wanchai, Hong Kong), and Lawrence Asher Gallery(Los Angeles, CA). Yang’s works have been featured at the Torrance Art Museum, Japanese American National Museum, and is in the permanent collections of Ace Gallery (Los Angeles), the Dallas World Trade Center, as well as many private collections. Yang’s work has received awards from the Durfee Foundation, the Hans G. and Lordis W. Burkhardt Foundation, the Beverly Alpay Award, and the California New Visions Award.
