> DESCRIPTION
In their first official father/daughter exhibition, Los Angeles based
artists Frank and Sonia Romero will be showing a group of works
selected to showcase the rich and creative world of printmaking.
Largely known as a painter and muralist, Frank Romero has been
printmaking for forty years, including thirty years of silkscreen at
Self-Help Graphics. Emerging artist Sonia Romero, also a painter, fell
and love and specialized in printmaking at the Rhode Island School of
Design, and has since incorporated printing into her primary media.
A large variety of techniques will be represented, such as silkscreen,
linocut, lithography, wood engraving and mixed media mono-prints. This
exhibition explores how printmaking can enrich the ideas and processes
of an artist who is primarily painterly, and serves to promote the idea
of printmaking as a valid and impressive art form on it own.
As their first collaborative effort, the two artists will be creating a
brand new serigraph at Self-Help Graphics for the exhibition.
