An Evening of Music, Performance, Video and Light Installation

Fabien Fryns Fine Art

September 25, 2010, at 9pm

Featuring performances by Lubos Kohoutek Flapper Metamorkestra, Ori Barel, Sandman Secrets, and Tremblexy: a re-creation of Brion Gysin’s original “Dreamachine” light installation.

(Los Angeles—September 2010) Enter the light of the luminous Dream Machine, and slip slowly into the trance of Awakened Sleep with an evening of Music, Performance, Video, and Light installation designed to facilitate access to our latent subconscious visions and sublime hallucinations, September 25, 2010, 9pm, at Fabien Fryns Fine Art. This event is in response to New Museum’s exhibition “Brion Gysin: Dream Machine,” the first US retrospective of the work of the painter, performer, poet, and writer Brion Gysin (born 1916, Taplow, UK – died 1986, Paris). It is free and open to the public.

Drawing inspiration in equal parts from Brion Gysin, whose design for the original “Dreamachine” was intended to induce visionary, dreamlike brain patterns, and LaMonte Young’s Theatre of Eternal Music, whose Dreamhouse provided an immersive environment of meditative light and sound, this event showcases work by artists who have responded to these historical threads by creating a contemporary entrance into the waking dream. Featuring performances by the Lubos Kohoutek Flapper Metamorkestra, Ori Barel, Sandman Secrets, and Tremblexy. A re-creation of Gysin’s kinetic light sculpture “Dreamachine” will be created and installed to the artist’s exact specifications.
