Ruby Osorio’s work addresses issues of identity, transformation and the creative boundaries between the fictional and the mundane. Pulling from a wide range of literary and cultural references--poetry, Hokusai drawings, fashion magazines--Osorio creates exquisite works on paper in which allegory and fantasy play central roles. In narratives that are at once strange and extraordinary, female heroines take center stage and allude to the confounding nature of their desires and anxieties.
