> DESCRIPTION

What is that intimate whisper at waking? A bird outside. The handsome stranger sleeping. The baby inside her. Using recordings of strangely robotic and beautiful songbirds and the stuttering lyrical drone of human sleep sounds, Jessica Rath, in collaboration with composer Robert Hoehn, has created SONG TO SNORE, a full room installation enveloping the viewer in a cocoon of desire. For this amplified sensory experience, the Torrance Museum project space is split by two twelve foot lush spiral walls, enveloping and luring the viewer down an elusive path that emits mysterious transitions from song to sleep.
