On December 7, 8-10pm you are invited to COME FOLD, cut, rearrange, etc., THE FELIX GONZALEZ-TORRES posters that arrived from the Venice Biennale.

On December 8, 8-10pm you are invited to SHOW THE FOLDED PIECE where we will enjoy the installation you and other participants created the evening before with an accompanying video projection showing your process of transformation. At the end of the evening you are invited to take your art works home as well as any unclaimed travel ready pieces.

Recently, some friends returned from this year’s Venice Biennale, bringing as a gift, two Felix Gonzalez-Torres posters. They described how visitors from around the world were invited to engage in Felix Gonzalez-Torres display of stacked posters by taking one away with them, distributing his art into the world and into their lives. These friends mentioned that upon leaving the exhibition many participants, due to traveling constraints, ended up placing these large posters in the trash or left them behind to litter the surrounding area. A few travelers had the room to pristinely roll up their posters to take with them, while others were forced to fold them up, making it easier for them to carry it home. While some may have felt that folding was somehow mutilating these collectible posters, others felt that marks made to these posters as they traveled, contributed to the history and transformation of this art -work, becoming a living document of the movement of the lives of its carriers.
