A breathtaking display of “the poetry of light and color”—co ntemporary Venetian glass from the island of Murano\, a secretive and influ ential glassmaking center which gained worldwide dominance in the 14th cent ury. Featured will be glass works from the 1920s to 1970s\, a seminal time period in which artists\, designers\, and architects collaborated with trad itional glass makers to modernize Italian glass design. Drawn from the coll ection of Toronto-based gallerist Roberto Navarro\, this exhibit features t he daring virtuosity of mid-century designers such as Ercole Barovier\, Din o Martens\, Gio Ponti\, Carlo Scarpa\, and Paolo Venini.
