Julian Wasser started his care er in photography in the 1950s as a teenager shooting crime scenes in Washi ngton D.C.\, which he sold to The Washington Post. After university and mil itary service he settled in Hollywood and worked for many years as a contra ct photographer for Time\, Life and People Magazine. Craig Krull Gallery wi ll be exhibiting a broad scope of his work\, including streetscapes of Los Angeles (particularly the Sunset Strip at night)\, images of iconic Los Ang eles figures (such as Joan Didion\, Frank Zappa and Rudi Gernreich) as well as a series of historic images of Robert F. Kennedy at the Ambassador Hote l and the Watts Riots. Wasser is also well-known for his photographs of the LA art scene\, particularly his image of Marcel Duchamp playing chess with a nude (Eve Babitz) at the opening of his retrospective at the Pasadena Ar t Museum. Wasserʼs work is being used in promotional catalogues and adverti sements for Paci fic Standard Time and is featured in the exhibition “Good Vibrations: C onnecting the Music and Pop Art of Southern California\, 1960- 1980” at the Grammy Museum.
