My most recent project is still life photography using flowers from my garden. This photographic work relates to my early abstract paintings. I create painted backgrounds and consider the flowers as sculptural elements that add color and form to the composition.
I am also a sculptor and a printmaker. My work is project based which means that I often work within a theme or project. The first piece in my work sample is called Jazz Idols which came about as a result of being asked to create a piece of artwork for an exhibit about Jazz. My piece is a combination of four prints which are sewn together with gold colored thread. The print passes through the etchers press twice using the collagraph (collage print) and solar print techniques. The bronze sculptures, titled The Faithful and The Missing show my interest in scale which will be a cohesive factor as I create new work for this project. I think of my work as conceptual and thoughtful.
