Project List:

Mount Washington Residence

Los Angeles, CA

1920 sf

Currently in permitting

Set on a steep upslope lot, this house is expressed as a series of geometric volumes that interplay with semi-enclosed outdoor “rooms” to maximize living spaces while keeping costs down.

Blocksburg Cabin

Humboldt County, CA

2800 sf

Currently under construction

Four 20’ x 20’ volumes housing living room, kitchen/dining room, porch, and bedroom are arranged along a central circulation spine. The cabin is a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional “dog-trot” arrangement, using vernacular building materials.

Tokes Residence

Cuesta-by-the-Sea, CA

2000 sf

Currently under construction

Single-family residence includes an oversized hallway on the ground floor that opens to a lush landscaped zone to double as a social space. The picture window upstairs frames dramatic views of Morro Bay.

Lagger Residence

Kona Coast, Big Island, HI

11,000 sf

Currently in CD phase

Four separate pavilions—living, master bedroom, guest wing, and garage— are interwoven with a large free-form swimming pool and a series of stepped lanai decks to create a sybaritic tropical paradise.

JoT House Prototype 3

Silver Lake, Los Angeles, CA

126 sf

Completed 2006

Teensy guesthouse in a backyard, built in around three weeks using a prefabricated, panelized design.

JoT House Prototypes 1&2

Joshua Tree, CA

1344 sf each

Completed 2004

To meet an extremely low budget of $68/sf (including land, labor, permitting, and utilities) Yeh + Jerrard developed a set of simple and modular construction details so the house could be built by semi-skilled labor with off-the-shelf materials and limited tools.

Kapolei Restaurants

Oahu, HI

6000 sf

Completed 2003

One building housing two distinct contemporary restaurants—a Chinese restaurant featuring a circular entrance and floating clouds of paper lanterns, and an Italian restaurant that blocks out interior spaces with an assemblage of solid planes and rectilinear forms.

Steinberg & Sons

Los Feliz, Los Angeles, CA

640 sf

Completed 2002

Interior redesign of a boutique clothing store.  Yeh + Jerrard did the interior layout as well as retail display and lighting design, working within a highly constrained budget.

Folding Structure

“Form & Function” Exhibition, Chapman University, Orange, CA;

16’-10” x 4’-2” x 8’-2” high (folded); 32’-0”” x 6’-0” (flat)

Exhibit dates: 2/10/03 – 3/22/03

A formal investigation of rigid surfaces through folded-plate geometry.  Both structure and skin, the Folding Structure is a prototype demountable enclosure that folds flat for transport: a sort of origami house.
