The Texas Firehouse
by Yaelle Amir

Occupying a 150-year old historic firehouse in Long Island City, this multi-purpose, artist-run DIY space hosts studios, a shop, and approximately six exhibitions a year that focus on the visual and performing arts.  The exhibitions have a limited one-night run, but function as both the reason for and the backdrop of a great party. Texas Firehouse recently underwent an overhaul and is entering into what appears to be a more ambitious stage as evidenced by the upcoming benefit and silent-auction on March 8th for its 2008 season.
