Flavorpill review by Shana Nys Dambrot

There's realism, and then there's reality. For Canadian artist and designer Robert Pasternak (aka Nak), both concepts are fluid and subject to interpretation. His self-styled metaphysics combine elements of faithful representation of the world around us with psychedelic interpretations of the energy swirling around and through it. Martha Rich views the relationship of inner and outer existence as a more antagonistic one, lambasting the sugar-and-spice femininity foisted on her during an oppressive suburban charm-school childhood through images of smiling, vaguely demonic women that both delight and disturb.
