Call for artists: Clever and Cunning Characters

This exhibit aims to showcase modern and contemporary

book cover art for classic fairy tales and fables. Sixteen

stories will be highlighted, all of which celebrate the deft

maneuvering of the protagonists to outwit their antagonists.

Title: Clever and Cunning Characters

Venue: East End Book Exchange, Pittsburgh, PA

Opening Reception: May 8, 2014, 6-8 PM

11. The Naughty Boy

12. The Devil with the Three Golden Hairs

14. The Little Wise Girl

15. Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves

16. The Emperor's New Suit

Requirements

1.Artists may choose to create a modern and original book

cover for one of the stories listed above, or to create a cover

for a combination of the stories from the list.

2. Artists may submit up to five book covers (digital

images, JPG files only, 300 dpi)

3. Size Limits: 5x8, 6x9, 7x7, 8x10, 10x8, 13x11, 12x12

4. Medium: Paintings, Drawings, Photographs, Mixed

Media

5. Artists should include in their submission: full name,

title of piece, medium, size, and price. Artists should also

include a short statement (75 words) about how they've

decided to depict the story of their choosing.

6. Submission due by April 15, 2014.

7. Any submission missing any of the information

listed above and/or have poor digital images will not be

considered.
