David Kordansky Gallery 3143 S. La Cienega Blvd, Unit A Tel. 310-558-3030 David Kordansky Gallery has a new home at 3143 S. La Cienega Blvd, Unit A. “Unit A” is off the main drag, and, if not for a banner visible from the street, I may not have found it. The gallery’s new space is great—warehouse size, with towering ceilings. But what’s even greater is the way Kordansky’s inaugural exhibition interacts with its industrial surroundings. Thomas Houseago’s massive but still vulnerable sculptures look like they’ve been lifted out of ruins and set up to stand in a gallery space for the first time in decades. With the industrial debris and the construction projects that characterize the area visible through the gallery’s large windows, Houseago’s sculptures are perfectly at home. Houseago’s exhibition will continue through January. Odds are the construction will continue much longer. Be sure to stop by. Posted by Catherine Wagley on 12/23/08 |
